REGULATIONS FOR THE ANNUAL COMPETITIONS
GENERAL COMPETITION RULES
1. All Competitions will be played under R & A Rules.
2. A member may only enter an ELLGA competition from her home Club.
3. Each competitor must have been a subscribing member or life member of the Club she represents for at least 3 months immediately preceding the date of the competition.
4. An official accurate handicap must be confirmed when registering for a Competition.
5. Handicap Index Limit for the Scratch Shield is 36.
Handicap Index Limit for the Handicap Shield is 40.
6. In the event of a tie, team winners of the shield/trophy shall be decided on the aggregate score of the last 9,6,3 or 1 hole of each team scores. In the event of ties for individual trophies or prizes the winners shall be decided equally on the last 9,6,3 or 1 hole.
7. The above rule applies in all competitions.
8. Each player is responsible for their own public and liability insurance.
9. Shield Competitions – No family member or men are allowed to caddy for players in ELLGA. Caddies are not allowed on the Green.
10. All winning scores and names from all competitions will be published on the ELLGA website unless otherwise advised by the Competitor.
11. Distance measuring devices may be used in all ELLGA competitions for distance only.
12. ELLGA reserve the right to alter the stipulated round of any competition should conditions make this necessary.
SCRATCH
1. A trophy to be called “THE EAST LANCASHIRE LADIES GOLF ASSOCIATION SHIELD” shall be competed for by a team of four.
2. The competition shall be competed for on the first Tuesday in June when possible.
3. The club returning the best aggregate of 4 gross scores for 18 holes shall hold the shield for one year. Each winning player will receive a memento at the prize giving event.
4. For the Scratch and Worsley competitions clubs must enter the lowest available handicap. Players may only represent their home club in this competition.
5. A trophy called “THE WORSLEY TROPHY” presented by Mrs Tom Worsley shall be won by by the team returning the four lowest scores under handicap. The team who wins the scratch trophy shall not be eligible to win the Worsley Trophy. The four members of the winning team shall receive a memento at the prize giving event.
6. A prize will be awarded to the player of the who returns the best scratch score of the competition and the club which she represents will hold for one year a trophy called “THE SCRATCH SHIELD”.
7. The executive committee shall, for the purpose of the competition, revise and approve the local rules of any course over which the competition may be played.
8. All disputes shall be reported to the Secretary of the Association, who shall lay the same before the members of the Executive Committee who may be present and their decision shall be final.
9. These regulations may be added to or altered at any Annual General Meeting without notice having been given.
HANDICAP
1. A trophy called “THE EAST LANCASHIRE LADIES HANDICAP TROPHY”. Shall be competed for by teams of three.
2. The trophy shall be played for on the third Tuesday in June when possible.
3. To decide members of their team each affiliated club shall hold a QUALIFYING competition. The three players returning the best nett scores in this qualifying competition shall represent their club in the final strokeplay competition for the trophy. Players may only represent their club in this competition. Each player of the winning Team will each receive a memento at the annual prize giving.
4. The ANNIE CHAMBERS TROPHY shall be awarded to the player who returns the best nett score and the trophy will be held for one year.
5. Evidence must be presented for this competition to the ELLGA secretary of each player who competed in the Home Club qualifying round. In the form of the clubs competition record.
6. In the event of no team being available to play 1 week notice to the date of the competition must be given. In the event of no team available, you may have to provide card markers at the competition.
7. All winning scores and names from all competitions will be published on the website unless otherwise advised.
SENIORS COMPETITION
Played in August as a Team of four. Age limit 55 a maximum handicap of 40. Higher handicaps can enter but will play off a handicap of 40.
CENTENARY
Played in May 2025 as a Team of four. Shotgun format which starts at 11am followed by presentation. Maximum handicaps 40. Higher handicaps can enter but will play off 40. Afternoon tea is provided in the entry fee.
AUTUMN MEETING COMPETITION
Played in September as a team of four. Maximum handicaps 40. Higher handicaps can enter but will play off 40.
CAPTAINS AND SECRETARIES LUNCHEON
This is held in November. If the Captain or Secretary is unable to attend two other committee or past committee members may attend in their place.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The Annual General Meeting is held each year at the Associations Presidents home club. Any resolution for consideration at the AGM should be received by the secretary by February 6th.
